Jarred Guthrie/Managing Partner
Jarred has 19 years of experience as a technical leader with expertise managing dynamic teams and complex projects in a Fortune 5 company and energy ‘supermajor’. He brings extensive negotiation skills to his leadership role at CFA, and was responsible for directing $3.9B in commercial agreements globally. He has led teams on 5 continents, across both developed and frontier markets, in the areas of production operations, R&D, exploration, maintenance, logistics, contracts & procurement, and was also one of the establishing members of a successful innovation center that delivered >$1B in revenue.
Jarred is an Executive Committee Member of the World Trade Center Energy Committee, a member of the Boards of Directors of WorldBoston, the Fuel Relief Fund, the Society of Petroleum Engineers, The YOT Club, as well as a former Board Observer for iBERIABANK. He is also a member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Tbilisi, Georgia. Jarred is the recipient of the Order of the Eagle of Georgia in recognition for his numerous philanthropic efforts throughout that country.
He earned a B.S. in Industrial Systems Engineering and B.A. in American Legal Studies from the United States Military Academy at West Point, along with an Executive Education from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a Chartered Professional Engineer (EUR ING) in the European Union and has been inducted into the Royal Dutch Institute of Engineers in the Netherlands. He is also an accomplished technical author and US Patents holder.
Joseph Haynes/managing partner
Joe has 15 years of experience in developing major infrastructure projects. In 2011, he founded Haynes & Associates, a consulting practice specializing in Public Private Partnerships, government procurement, and government relations. He’s developed energy projects worth hundreds of millions of dollars, and has represented domestic and international clients from Fortune 50s to start ups in industries such as health care, finance, information / communication technologies, transportation, smart city technology, agriculture, defense, construction, education and security.
Prior to founding his current firm, Joe was on the leading edge of the burgeoning “green economy”, having served as the national sales manager for a publicly traded company specializing in “waste to energy” and organic fertilizer production. He also co-founded a company called Afriganics, which specialized in converting diesel powered telecom towers and irrigation systems in West Africa into cost effective solar / battery systems.
Joe is a graduate of Brandeis University and serves on multiple boards in the Boston Area including Leading Cities, World Boston and Trustees of the University of Liberia. As of September 2017 he relocated to Eastern Europe to pursue opportunities for Commonwealth Frontier Advisors.
Board of Advisors:
Graeme has over 20 years of experience managing global equity portfolios. He is the founder of Rochelle Capital Management, LLC and serves as the fund manager of Rochelle Capital Partners LP.
Prior to establishing Rochelle Capital Management, LLC, Graeme served as a Portfolio Manager at Fidelity Investments in Boston and London. During his 19-year tenure there, he developed and implemented an investment process that delivered substantial outperformance on all funds managed by him, exceeding their respective benchmarks by a total of 3779 bps (gross of fees). During his tenure he beat 100% of his competitor funds on 2 occasions: first in 2004 with the Fidelity Global Consumer Industries Fund (Lipper award), and again in 2013 when the Fidelity Advisor Overseas Fund was ranked 1st vs. 671 competitor funds in the Morningstar Foreign Large Blend Category.
Prior to serving as a Fund Manager at Fidelity, Graeme was an Assistant Fund Manager on the Fidelity Diversified International Fund, as global consumer team leader and as a European Equity Analyst in Boston and London.
Before joining Fidelity, Graeme worked as a manager in the structured finance team at NBS Corporate Bank, Durban, South Africa.
He studied at Natal University, South Africa (BScQS) and at Nijenrode University, The Netherlands (MBA cum laude, valedictorian).
Don H. Hunter
Mr. Hunter is Principal at Donald Hunter, LLC, a consulting practice that assists private equity firms and entrepreneurs to enhance the value of their technology companies. Don has more than 25 years of public company experience and brings a wealth of knowledge in corporate governance and internal control, financial reporting, process improvements, mergers and acquisitions, international operations, and strategic planning.
From 2000 through 2006, Don served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Harbor Global Company Limited, a publicly traded investment management, natural resources, and real-estate company. Previously he was a senior executive at The Pioneer Group, Inc. Don began his career at the General Electric Company, where he was a member of the corporate audit staff and a graduate of its Financial Management Training Program.
In 2018, Don was appointed to the board of directors for Kush Bottles, Inc. and since 2013 he has served as a member of the board of directors of The LGL Group, Inc., an NYSE-listed frequency and spectrum control engineering and manufacturing company. Previously, Don served as a member of the board of directors, Chairman of the Audit Committee and member of the Nominating Committee of Juniper Pharmaceuticals, a NASDAQ-listed specialty pharmaceuticals company. He was also a member of the board of directors of LICT Corporation, a holding company with subsidiaries in telecommunications and multimedia.
At the Pioneer Group, Inc., Mr. Hunter had corporate financial responsibility for the start-up and integration of several international operating subsidiaries, primarily in the investment management, financial services, and natural resources industries. He was later instrumental in spinning off Harbor Global Company Limited into a separate public company and developing and executing its strategic plan, which included several complex M&A transactions.
Mr. Hunter qualifies as a financial expert pursuant to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and is an active member of the National Association of Corporate Directors. He holds a Bachelor of Science, magna cum laude, and an MBA with high honors, from Boston University.
Dr. Oscar Kashala
Dr. Kashala is the President and CEO of Asterko, a holdings company that focuses on international for-profit ventures. He also serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Global Enterprise Services Corporation.
Oscar is president of the Union for the Rebuilding of Congo and was a candidate in the 2006 presidential election for the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). He is an internationally recognized cancer specialist who has worked in the pharmaceutical industry, where he currently holds several senior positions. He is also a faculty member at numerous universities both in the United States and in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Oscar has served in an advisory capacity to several international institutions, including the World Health Organization. He has frequently been called to speak on African-led investment and development, as well as infrastructure projects.
Oscar graduated from Kinshasa University Medical School in 1980 and trained in internal medicine and pathology at the University of Kinshasa, then at the University of Lausanne and University of Geneva Medical Schools. In 1986, the World Health Organization awarded him a fellowship for medical oncology in Boston. There, he obtained a fellowship in cancer biology at Harvard University, followed by admission into a doctoral program in cancer biology and immunology in a combined degree program at Harvard and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Oscar received a Doctor of Science degree from Harvard in 1992.
Ambassador (Ret.) Robert F. Cekuta
A long-serving U.S. diplomat with top positions overseas as well as in Washington, including Ambassador to Azerbaijan and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Resources in the State Department, Amb. Cekuta has extensive experience in foreign affairs and international economic matters. He was one of the longest-serving economic officers in the U.S. Foreign Service, with particular expertise in international energy, development, trade policy, sanctions, and commercial advocacy. His overseas postings included the U.S. Embassies in Tokyo and Berlin where he oversaw the full range of economic, commercial, nonproliferation, and scientific relations. In addition to positions in Washington handling economic aspects of U.S. foreign policy, he was assigned to Albania, Austria, Iraq, Afghanistan, South Africa, and Yemen.
Amb. Cekuta has served on the boards of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) and the International Energy Agency (IEA) where he also chaired the IEA’s Standing Group charged with anticipating new global energy trends and developments.
Recipient of numerous awards for his service to the U.S. government, Amb. Cekuta is now a consultant as well as a writer on international economic developments, energy matters, and Central Asia and the Caucasus. He is a graduate of Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and holds Masters Degrees from the Thunderbird School of International Management and the National War College.
Margaret Shakarashvili, Country Manager, Georgia
Ms. Shakarashvili is an International development professional with over 10 years of demonstrated history in working with state agencies, education/research institutions, and international organizations (UN, EU) in Europe, Middle East and the U.S.A. She is experienced in executing large-scale development projects in various global settings, including conflict affected regions. Margaret is a hands-on practitioner in gender mainstreaming in both state agencies and business operations, and often sought after to speak on topics related to women, peace and security. She has M.Sc. from Tbilisi State University, an executive education from Maastricht School of Management, was a visiting PhD Researcher at the University of Vienna, Marie Curie Scholar at the University of Vilnius, and is currently completing graduate studies in International Security at the Daniel Morgan Graduate School of National Security in Washington, D.C. Margaret is a certified Public Policy Analyst.
Nimesh Gadoya, Chief Financial Officer
A seasoned financial professional with a career spanning investment banking, mergers & acquisitions, venture capital, startup management and fundraising, Mr. Gadoya has extensive experience working in investment banking on both the east and west coast American international financial centers. He started his career as a Valuation Advisor with Duff & Phelps Corp., and then transitioned into investments with both Imperial Capital, LLC and Moelis & Company. It was at Moelis that Nimesh combined both his valuation and investment knowledge to become an expert in their M&A business. He has also worked internationally in Kenya and Uganda where he led corporate finance, analytics and strategy teams focused on those developing markets. He is knowledgeable in sectors such as agriculture, clean energy, healthcare services, affordable housing, microfinance institutions, waste management, water, and sanitation. Aside from currently serving as a corporate development member for Univar, Mr. Gadoya also co-founded F&W Insights which is an IOT tech company reducing costs, increasing revenues, and improving client experiences in the hospitality industry. He is a graduate of Lehigh University with a B.S. in Integrated Business & Engineering, and a M.S. in Statistics.
Sabin Rossi, Consultant
Sabin Rossi is an accomplished executive with a 15-year history in management, business development, sales, Investor Relations, Public Relations and Government Relations for energy and commodity projects in emerging and frontier markets in the Caspian Region and Central Asia. Currently, Mr. Rossi is Managing Partner, Frontier Exploration Partners, Boston, MA, a boutique consulting firm focused on project identification, financing and development globally in emerging and frontier markets.
Mr. Rossi’s previous roles include co-founder and Vice President Investor Relations of Tethys Petroleum, a publicly listed oil and gas exploration and production company operating in Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Georgia; President, Tethys Petroleum, Inc.; Vice President Investor Relations and External Affairs for CanArgo Energy Corporation (former parent company of Tethys Petroleum), a publicly listed oil and gas exploration and production company operating in the country of Georgia; Chairman, co-founder and President Designate of The American-Tajik Business Council, Washington, D.C.; Representative on The US-Kazakh Business Association, Washington, D.C.; Representative on The American-Georgian Business Council; and Representative on The American Chamber of Commerce in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
